On February 12th, 2008, all Fentanyl 25-microgram-per-hour patches that expire on or before December 2009 sold in the U.S. were recalled by Johnson & Johnson. The recall was issued due to the potential for a leak which may arise on the base of the patch releasing a potentially fatal gel. Those who come in contact with the leaking patch may have difficulty breathing or could become victims of a fatal overdose.
