Fatal Tractor-Trailer Accidents in Cass County
With a victim total that climbs a little bit higher each year, more than 100,000 people are injured or killed during accidents involving tractor-trailers nationwide. Commercial trucks, because of their size, can be some of the most lethal vehicles on Missouri’s roadways.
Despite the overwhelming number of fatal and catastrophic accidents associated with these oversized vehicles, truck drivers are not always the ones responsible for a collision. Around 25% of all tractor-trailer-involved accidents involve death or injury to the truck operator themselves.
The sheer size and weight of a commercial truck mean that they have a longer braking distance and large blind spots. They do not turn on a dime and are extremely hard to maneuver out of harm’s way should an unexpected situation arise. That is why it is imperative that drivers sharing the roadway with these massive vehicles give truck drivers plenty of space and follow the rules of the road.
