Kansas City, MO – Man Dies After Fatal Auto Accident at Truman Rd & Bennington Ave

Kansas City, MO (August 24, 2021) – A Kansas City man died on Tuesday, August 24, from injuries he sustained in an August 3 car accident.

The victim, identified only as an 80-year-old man, was driving his Toyota car northbound near Truman Road and Bennington Ave when an eastbound Chevrolet ran a red light and hit his car around 10:00 a.m.

According to officers with the Kansas City Police Department, the man was critically injured in the accident and spent weeks in the hospital before succumbing to his injuries on Tuesday.

The driver of the Chevrolet reported that she was being targeted by gunshots and ran the red light to escape. A female passenger riding in the Toyota was also injured and transported to the hospital, though she has since been released.

No names have been released, and police say the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
