Kansas City, MO (August 01, 2021) – A male pedestrian from Independence was killed during a hit-and-run accident when he was struck by a car at the base on an interstate exit ramp on Sunday, August 1st.
A source inside the Kansas City Police Department said a Kia sedan was traveling eastbound when the driver lost control of the car, swerved over the south curb of the interstate, and struck the unidentified pedestrian, who was sitting at the base of an exit ramp for Interstate 435. The car then veered across the lanes of the exit ramp and crashed into a metal utility pole.
The occupants of the car, an adult female and male, exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot without notifying authorities or rendering aid, leaving the 55-year-old pedestrian to die at the scene.
This accident is under investigation by officers from the Kansas City Police Department.
