Amazonia, MO (October 7, 2021) – One man has lost his life following a motor vehicle accident in Andrew County on Wednesday evening, October 6. The victim has since been identified as 53-year-old Billy Mooney of Amazonia, Missouri.
At around 7:25 p.m., a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by 37-year-old Sharee Ellis, and a motorized bicycle driven by Mooney were both traveling north on Route K.
For unknown reasons, the Chevrolet struck the rear of the bicycle, causing Mooney to be ejected.
The Chevrolet went off the east side of the road and came to rest facing north. The bicycle came to rest on its side in the middle of the road.
Mooney sustained fatal injuries in the accident. Authorities arrived at the scene and pronounced him deceased.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
