Caruthersville, MO (April 19, 2022) – One person has lost their life following a traffic-related incident in Pemiscot County. At around 8:55 a.m., on April 18, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of an auto accident on Interstate 155.
Reports provided by authorities show that a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox and a 2015 Nissan Sentra became involved in a head-on collision on Interstate 155 just one mile south of Caruthersville.
The incident left both vehicles totaled, requiring them to be towed from the scene. Police and firefighters closed off a portion of the road as they worked to clear the scene.
EMS transported 30-year-old Courtney Lemons and 31-year-old Derek Waddell to West Tennessee Healthcare in Dyersburg, Tennessee for care. Authorities confirm that Waddell passed away from his injuries after arriving.
At this time, the circumstances surrounding the accident are under investigation.
