Car Accidents in Missouri

Bixby, MO - Keith Johns & Daniel Martin Killed in Auto Wreck on MO-32Auto wrecks in Missouri leave tens of thousands of people hurt each year. Although most drivers are vigilant and careful while traveling along our roadways, we continue to see innocent people harmed as a result of negligence. In Missouri, there are three factors that are most commonly reported in auto accidents across our state. These include:

Speeding: Out of all fatal accidents reported in our state, nearly 1/3 of them involve speeding. Unfortunately, people who are speeding are likely to lose control of their vehicles. The severity of injuries from accidents involving speeding is dramatically increased. When people are speeding, they often need an increased distance to stop in order to avoid a collision. Unfortunately, crashes involving speeding can render aired bags and other protective equipment ineffective.

Distractions: The number of cell phone-related crashes increased by more than 30% between 2014 and 2018 in the state of Missouri. Unfortunately, drivers who are distracted continue to be one of the top causes of crashes in our state each year. Drivers who are not paying attention to the road ahead are likely to miss other vehicles and objects or even people on the road. As a result, they are likely to strike them and cause severe injuries

Impairment: Thousands of crashes in our state each year involve drug or alcohol use. Driving while under the influence is not only a criminal offense, but it is one of the leading causes of accidental death and injury in our state. When people are impaired while behind the wheel, they are likely to lose control of their vehicle and crash into others.

Despite the fact that there are several measures in place to prevent these and other acts of negligence, we continue to see innocent people pay the price. If you’ve been hurt as a result of a negligent driver, a car accident lawyer in Bixby will be able to help you seek compensation from them.
