Fatal Truck Accidents in Missouri

Peculiar, MO – Douglas Bentley Killed in Truck crash on I-49 near Peculiar WayFatal truck crashes take the lives of thousands of people across the United States each year. In Missouri, we see countless families forced to deal with the overwhelming impact that these accidents have. In many cases, these accidents are a result of negligence. Leading factors in fatal truck accidents across Missouri include:

  • Distracted driving: Distracted driving is one of the major factors in rear-end traffic collisions. If a driver is not paying attention to the road ahead, they may not see the vehicles in front of them slowing down or stopping and could crash into them.
  • Following too closely: Following too closely, or tailgating, a major factor in fetal rear-end truck accidents. If a driver is following too closely, they may not have enough time to stop if the car in front of them slows down or stops abruptly.
  • Weather conditions: Poor weather conditions can also contribute to rear-end crashes. If it is raining or snowing, visibility can be reduced and it can be more difficult for drivers to see the car in front of them. Additionally, slick roads can make it more difficult to stop quickly.
  • Mechanical issues: Sometimes mechanical issues can lead to rear end crashes as well. If a truck experiences brake failure or its tires blow out, the driver may not be able to stop in time and could crash into the car in front of them.

When trucks are involved in these accidents, the chances of severe and fatal injuries are dramatically increased. Unfortunately, driving a truck makes dealing with any of the aforementioned problems more difficult. Trucks take a lot longer to stop when compared to other motor vehicle sharing the roadway. As a result, they are more likely to strike others sharing the road under any of these circumstances.
