Car Accidents in Missouri
Every year, traffic accidents change the lives of thousands of people in Missouri. Regrettably, many people are left with painful physical and emotional injuries. In addition to suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder, many victims are left with traumatic brain injuries, broken bones, and other severe injuries that require both immediate and long-term care.
If you have been injured as a result of a motor vehicle accident, you are able to file a personal injury case against the person who is at fault. If you are partially at fault for a car accident in Missouri, your damages will be reduced by the percentage of fault you share. For example, if you are found to be 20% at fault for an accident that caused $10,000 in damages, your recovery would be decreased by 20% to a total of $8,000 from the other driver. This is due to the fact that Missouri follows a pure comparative negligence doctrine.
