The first breast implant surgeries performed in the United States took place in the 1960s, and since then, millions of women have had breast implant surgeries. For years there have been concerns regarding implants, and unfortunately, many implant recipients have suffered serious side effects as the result of defective implants or botched surgeries performed by negligent surgeons.

Some side effects that may occur to women with breast implants include:

  • Toxic shock syndrome
  • Silicone leakage
  • Hardening of the breast implant
  • Rupturing or deflation of the implant
  • Capsular contracture
  • Connective-tissue disease (may take ten to fifteen years to develop)
  • Skin death
  • Enlarged lymph nodes
  • Serious infections
  • Gangrene

Not all women who have breast implant surgeries will suffer from these serious and painful symptoms, but many will. Listed below are just a few symptoms which may be linked to breast implant problems:

  • Chest pain
  • Rash on breasts
  • Increase or decrease in size of breast(s)
  • Lumps in chest
  • Numbness, swelling, tingling of the chest

Recent studies have also found that women who have silicone breast implants which have leaked are at a higher risk for developing Fibromyalgia and other serious medical conditions.

If you have breast implants and have experienced any of the above listed symptoms or side effects, it is very important that you seek medical attention to determine if your implants have ruptured or are defective.

If you have suffered from any side effects or complications associated with your silicone or saline breast implants, you should contact a skilled attorney at Peterson & Associates immediately.
