Cameron Exposure
Recently the residents of Cameron, Missouri,
a town consisting of less than 9,000 residents became
aware of a cluster of brain tumors in their area.
Most of the tumors diagnosed in Cameron are large but
benign. Because doctors are required to report
cancerous tumors only to the state Health Department, no
agency is officially collecting data on all the
occurrences.
Two officials who oversee the
State’s cancer registry and its cancer inquiry unit said
they have received between 20 & 40 reports indicating
similar problems from area residents. They
cautioned that those reports are not yet verified.
A clear cause of this cluster of tumor diagnosis have
yet to be identified.
