In 1997, Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories, the makers of Fen Phen, issued a letter to health care professionals advising them of the revised labeling for Cordarone due to users of the drug having decreased or blurred vision which, in some cases, progressed to permanent blindness.
Wyeth recently sent correspondence to healthcare professionals regarding the safety of Cordarone saying it should not be used in pediatric patients for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmia because the safety of Cordarone use in children has not been adequately evaluated and that the use of Cordarone in children may cause severe breathing, cardiovascular problems and may interfere with the development of the male reproductive organs.
