Dangerous Symptoms Caused by Levaquin / Cipro
Though commonly used to treat a number of conditions, from bronchitis to joint infections to sinusitis, fluoroquinolones may be over-prescribed for more minor issues. More than that, these drugs may have serious side effects.
Some of the dangerous symptoms users had included:
- Aortic Dissection
- Chest Pain
- Back Pain
- Flu-Like Symptoms
- Paralysis of a Limb
- Tendon Ruptures
- Peripheral Neuropathy
In 2008, the FDA issued a Black Box Warning for fluoroquinolones and the increased risk of tendon ruptures as well. In 2013, the FDA also issued a warning about the danger of peripheral neuropathy and the use of fluoroquinolones. A 2014 study also showed that long-time use of fluoroquinolones like Cipro® and Levaquin® can lead to a two-fold risk for development of peripheral neuropathy. New users also had a slightly increased risk.1
