A Local Accident Kills One

Categorized as Actos

Witnesses report that a single car caused enough damage to a utility pole to cause power outages around a neighborhood. According to police reports, a vehicle sped around the corner on Oldham Road just south of Swope Park at around 2:45 a.m. on Feb. 12.

Police say that the car crashed into a power pole. Unfortunately, the passenger was trapped after the power pole fell on top of the vehicle. The passenger died in the accident.

Police have not revealed the name of the unfortunate victim. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and it is unclear why the car came around the corner so quickly.

Power was not restored to the surrounding areas for hours and the road remained closed until 8 a.m.

Tragic accidents such as these are all too common. There are many things that drivers can do to increase their safety, including:

  • Following the speed limit
  • Obeying all traffic laws
  • Eliminating the use of smart devices in vehicles
  • Avoiding tailgating other vehicles
  • Completing regular maintenance on vehicles
  • Remaining aware of the surrounding areas
