Kansas City, MO - Mario and Delia Madruga Killed in Crash on N. 17th St
Kansas City, MO (December 25, 2020) - An elderly man and woman were killed on Christmas Day when a man driving a stolen pick-up truck blew through a stop sign and collided with their car.
The collision took place at about 1:45 p.m. at the intersection of Orville Avenue and North 17th Street in Kansas City.
The victims have since been identified as 89-year-old Mario Madruga, and 85-year-old Delia Madruga, both residents of Kansas City.
According to police reports, a man telephoned the dispatch center prior to the accident and reported that he had located his stolen pick-up truck near Grandview Boulevard and North 25th Street.
When police arrived on the scene, the two people in the 2002 Ford F-250 pick-up truck fled, striking the patrol car in its haste.
The officers were unharmed.
The driver of the stolen truck then ran a stop sign at Orville Avenue and North 17th Street, causing it to collide with the driver's side of Madruga's 2009 Cadillac DTS, which sent it crashing into a nearby tree.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victims, Mr. and Mrs. Mario and Delia Madruga, at this time.
