Kingsville, MO - Jasper Smith Killed in Wreck on US-50
Kingsville, MO (November 22, 2020) - One person was killed and another injured following a two-car accident in the eastbound lanes of US-50 on Sunday, November 22nd in Johnson County. The deceased has since been identified as 33-year-old Jasper D. Smith, a resident of Kingsville.
Official reports show that the collision took place at about 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Northwest 1601st Road and US-50 when a 2011 Dodge Ram, driven by Smith and heading eastbound along US-50, collided with a 1995 Buick Skylark.
At the time of the collision, the Buick, which was driven by a 17-year-old male from Holden, was attempting to make a lefthand turn across the divided highway.
The force of the impact forced the Dodge to leave the roadway where it struck a utility pole, two roadside signs, and a fence. The Buick skidded off the roadway and came to a stop in the righthand shoulder.
The Johnson County Coroner pronounced Smith dead at the scene.
The driver of the Buick was transported by the Johnson County Ambulance District to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. His injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim, Mr. Jasper D. Smith, at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and his family in hopes of a full recovery.
