Jasper Co, MO - Two Seriously Injured During Felony DUI at MO-43 and Baseline Blvd
Jasper Co, MO (April 12, 2021) - At about 11:00 p.m. on Monday, April 12th a car accident involving two vehicles took place on State Highway 43 at Baseline Boulevard just outside of Joplin.
Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies, Tri-Cities Fires, and METS all responded to the scene.
Two of the victims were transported to Joplin hospitals via ambulance. A third person, one of the drivers, was cited for a felony DUI.
Reports show that 66-year-old John Williams was driving a 2020 Kia Soul northbound on MO-43 when he was hit by a vehicle eastbound on Baseline Blvd after it failed to stop at a stop sign.
Williams sustained critical injuries when he was ejected from his vehicle. He was transported Priority One Trauma to Freeman West Hospital.
The eastbound vehicle was a 2019 Toyota Camry driven by 57-year-old Marta J. Perez-Sian, a resident of Carthage.
Perez-Sian, who was unharmed during the incident, was arrested and charged with Felony DWI.
Her passenger, 36-year-old Jose M. Puac, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital Joplin, Priority One from the scene.
