Curryville, MO (August 25, 2021) – The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a single-car accident that left one person dead and another with serious injuries on Wednesday, August 25th in Pike County.
According to reports, a 2012 Jeep Compass was driving westbound on US-54 in the area of MO-154 just outside of Curryville at about 2:30 a.m. when it failed to make a lefthand turn towards Vandalia.
The vehicle exited the righthand side of the roadway and crashed into a road sign before falling down an embankment, striking a ditch, and becoming airborne.
While still in the air, the Jeep hit a utility pole. It then struck the ground and rolled over several times before coming to an uncontrolled stop.
Two occupants were inside the Jeep at the time of the crash. 33-year-old Dylan T. Day, a resident of Paris, was thrown from the Jeep. He was airlifted by Hannibal Survival Flight to the University of Columbia Hospital.
37-year-old Jennifer N. Whitehead, a resident of Foristell, was pronounced at the scene by the Pike County Coroner.
