Excelsior Springs, MO (August 24, 2021) – Officers from the Kansas City Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol, together with local authorities in Excelsior Springs, are investigating a fatal crash that killed a child and seriously injured several other victims on Friday evening, August 20.
The crash reportedly killed a 6-year-old girl and seriously injured several others, including a 4-year-old boy. Around 7:00 p.m. in the Excelsior Springs area, a suburb of Kansas City, a car went off the right side of Seybold Road, hit a parked pickup truck, and then traveled into a field before coming to rest in a pile of brush, troopers with MSHP said.
A 6-year-old girl traveling inside the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, investigators said. The 24-year-old driver, two 18-year-old passengers, and a 4-year-old boy in the car were all transported to area hospitals with serious injuries. Their current conditions are unknown.
The crash remains under investigation.
