Independence, MO (August 20, 2021) – Officers from the Independence Police Department were called to investigate a fatal accident that left a pedestrian dead on Monday, August 16th in Jackson County.
The incident took place on Missouri 291 Highway at the intersection of 23rd Street in Independence at about 12:40 p.m. when, according to investigators, the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu was traveling southbound along Highway 291 when it struck a pedestrian near the roadway.
The victim, who has since been identified as 42-year-old Jennifer Brown, was transported by Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital, where she passed away a short while later.
No additional injuries have been reported.
This accident is under investigation.
