The accident took place at about 11:40 a.m. on Missouri Highway 249, just outside of Joplin.
26-year-old Lus M. Fuentez-Lopez, a resident of Carthage, was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin.
Reports show that Fuentez-Lopez was a passenger in a southbound car driven by 39-year-old Santos E. Ordonez-Garcia, also from Carthage, that was struck from behind by a Jeep Patriot driven by 22-year-old Job A. Boatright, a resident of Joplin.
