Categorized as Auto Accidents

Kansas City, MO (August 09, 2021) – A driver lost control of their vehicle and slammed into a 7-Eleven convenience store on Monday, August 9th in Kansas City.

When police arrived at the store, located near Independence Avenue and Highland Avenue, they discovered the entire car sitting inside the store.

Investigators stated that the driver lost control of her car, causing it to travel off the roadway, jump a curb, and knock down a street light before crashing into the business and destroying the front of the store.

The car also crashed into the counter inside the store. Officials reported that the impact knocked over the counter, trapping the store clerk underneath. The clerk was taken by paramedics to a local hospital in serious condition.

The driver was also transported with injuries that were non-critical.

The two customers that were in the store at the time of the accident sustained minor injuries that did not require medical treatment although one did help himself to two beers before leaving the scene.

Investigators haven’t said what caused the driver to lose control.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

If you have been injured in a pedestrian accident in Missouri, you will most likely receive a call from the insurance company representing the driver involved in your accident, asking you to provide a recorded statement. You are not required to entertain their request, particularly if you have not yet spoken with a pedestrian injury attorney.

It is always a smart move to speak with an attorney before giving any statement to anyone. This is because insurance companies teach their adjusters to ask certain questions worded in such a way as to bring down the value of your claim as much as possible.
