Maryville, MO (August 14, 2021) – On Saturday, August 14th, in Nodaway County, debris that flew out of the bed of a truck caused serious injury to someone in another vehicle.
Police reports show that the accident took place at about 1:20 p.m. in the southbound lanes of US-71 just outside of Maryville.
The crash happened when a southbound 2004 Harley Davidson Sportster was struck by a mattress that had come unsecured from the bed of a northbound 2021 Chevrolet pick-up truck driven by a 31-year-old male from Maryville.
When the mattress struck the rider, a 41-year-old female from Shenendoah, IA., she was ejected from her bike into the roadway.
She was then transported by Nodaway County Emergency Medical Services to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph with injuries classified as serious.
