Warsaw, MO (August 22, 2021) – On Sunday, August 22nd, troopers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol were called to the scene of a deadly one-car accident on Jackson Avenue in the area of Penn Drive in Benton County.
The deceased has since been identified as 18-year-old Anthony J. Birdsong, a resident of Warsaw.
The accident took place at about 3:20 a.m. A 2004 Saturn Vue in which Birdsong was a passenger, driven by a 17-year-old male, also from Warsaw, was heading northbound on Jackson Avenue when, for reasons still under investigation, it traveled off the lefthand side of the roadway, across a private drive, and crashed into an unoccupied 2002 Keystone Springdale Camper.
The coroner pronounced Birdsong deceased at the scene.
The driver sustained moderate injuries during the crash and was transported by paramedics to Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.
