Columbia, MO (December 24, 2021) – A motor vehicle accident reported in Boone County on Wednesday morning has claimed one man’s life. At around 4:48 a.m., on December 22, the Missouri State Highway Patrol was requested on-site at a crash on Interstate 70.
Reports from authorities show that a 2015 Ford Explorer was stopped on the westbound side of Interstate 70 with their emergency lights activated near mile marker 135.4. For unknown reasons, the driver of a 2021 Cascadia 116 failed to slow down their vehicle. As a result, the Cascadia struck the rear of the Ford Explorer. The front of the Cascadia then struck a 2013 Hino box truck and rotated around, striking a 2017 Ford F-450 ambulance.
The driver of the Explorer, identified as 58-year-old Bryant Gladney, sustained severe injuries in the accident. He was rushed to University Hospital by ambulance. Authorities confirmed that Gladney was pronounced deceased after arriving.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
