Douglas, MO (December 17, 2021) – A motor vehicle accident reported in Jackson County just outside of Douglas ended in injuries. At around 4:50 p.m., on December 16, emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at a crash on Interstate 470.
Reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol show that a 2012 Toyota Camry was traveling on the eastbound side of Interstate 470 when the driver began to slow the vehicle. For unknown reasons, the Toyota was rear-ended by a 2014 Volvo tractor-trailer.
A passenger in the Toyota, 33-year-old Melisa Santiego, sustained injuries in the accident. She was transported to Lee’s Summit Medical Center for care.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
