Festus, MO (December 22, 2021) – A young child has lost his life following a pedestrian accident in Jefferson County on Tuesday afternoon, December 21. At around 3:15 p.m., authorities were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at a crash on Oakland Hills Drive.
Reports from local authorities indicate that a 6-year-old boy exited his school bus, a 2000 Bluebird school bus, on Oakland Hills Drive. As the child passed in front of the bus, it pulled forward and struck him.
The incident prompted the closure of the roadway in the area near Oakland Woods Drive.
The child suffered severe injuries in the accident. Authorities arrived at the scene and pronounced him deceased.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
