Hayti, MO (December 8, 2021) – A crash reported just north of Hayti sent two men to area hospitals with injuries. At around 2:30 p.m., on December 6, emergency crews were requested on-site at a crash on Interstate 55.
Reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol show that a collision between a 2016 International tractor-trailer and a trash truck took place on Interstate 55 near mile marker 22. The crash left both vehicles totaled, prompting them to be towed from the scene.
The driver of the semi-truck, 48-year-old Demetrius Collins, was transported to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital for the treatment of injuries. The driver of the trash truck, 58-year-old Scottie Vires, was transported by survival flight to Regional One Health in Memphis, Tennessee.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
