Joplin, MO (December 20, 2021) – A motor vehicle accident reported in the Joplin area left two people injured, according to reports provided by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. At around 1 p.m., on December 16, emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at a crash on Missouri State Highway 43.
Reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol show that a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox and a 2020 Kia Rio were involved in a collision on Missouri State Route 43 in the area just one mile north of Joplin.
The incident blocked the roadway, causing some delays throughout the area as crews worked to clear the scene.
A 10-year-old female sustained injuries in the accident and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Joplin for care. A second ambulance transported 44-year-old Glenna Checkley to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
