New Madrid, MO (December 24, 2021) – Several people were transported to an area hospital with injuries following a motor vehicle accident in New Madrid. At around 8:40 p.m., on December 23, emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at a crash on Interstate 55.
Reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol show that a rear-end collision between a 2015 Ford Transit and a 2017 Hyundai Elentra occurred on the northbound side of Interstate 55 in the area near mile marker 47.6.
The incident left both vehicles totaled, requiring them to be towed from the scene.
Three people involved in the crash were injured. EMS transported 37-year-old Lontas Mc Clinton, 40-year-old Julis Jackson, and 52-year-old Thomas Inman to Missouri Delta Hospital in Sikeston for care.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
