Newburg, MO (December 12, 2021) – An auto accident reported in Phelps County left two people injured. At around 7 p.m., on December 9, emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed at the scene of a traffic-related incident on Highway D.
Reports from authorities show that a 2006 Kia Spectra crossed over the center lines of Highway D and crashed into a 2012 Lincoln MKX just one mile west of Interstate 44.
Both vehicles were totaled and had to be towed from the scene.
One victim, 34-year-old Annette McCarty, was airlifted from the scene and flown to University Hospital in Columbia for care. A second victim, 41-year-old Jeffery Goodman, was transported by Dixon EMS to Phelps Health for the treatment of injuries.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
