Pierce City, MO (December 5, 2021) – One woman was hospitalized as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Lawrence County on Thursday evening. At around 4:35 p.m., on December 2, emergency crews were notified that an auto accident took place on Highway 97.
Reports from authorities indicate that a 2001 Kawasaki Volken was traveling on Highway 97 when it collided with a Giant brand bicycle just two miles north of Pierce City.
The bicyclist, 53-year-old Dawnata Hopkins, sustained injuries in the crash. Hopkins was transported to Mercy Hospital in Joplin for care.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
