Smithville, MO (December 23, 2021) – One man has lost his life as a result of a motor vehicle accident in the Smithville area on Tuesday evening, December 21. At around 6:50 p.m., authorities were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at a crash on Interstate 407.
Reports provided by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper R K Stearns show that a 2019 GMC Yukon was traveling on Interstate 407. As a 2009 BMW attempted to make a left turn on US Highway 169, it collided with the GMC.
One person involved in the accident, 80-year-old Robert Kohlscheen, sustained severe injuries in the accident. He was rushed to North Kansas City Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
