West Plains, MO (December 29, 2021) – An auto accident reported in Howell County claimed one man’s life. At around 5 p.m., on December 27, the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a crash on Highway 63.
Reports from MSHP Trooper C A Kimes show that a rear-end collision between a 2002 Ford Expedition and a 2013 Kia Optima occurred on Highway 63 just one mile south of West Plains. The impact of the crash caused the Ford to travel across the center of the roadway and crash into a 2001 Nissan Frontier. The Expedition then traveled off the roadway and overturned.
The driver of the Ford, 26-year-old Bailey Pine, sustained fatal injuries in the accident. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Dr. Chris Cochran. The driver of the Nissan, 77-year-old Michael Wall, sustained serious injuries in the crash. He was transported by Air Evac to Cox South Hospital in Springfield for care.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
