Jackson Co, MO – One Injured in Pile-Up Accident on I-70

Jackson Co, MO (July 17, 2021) – A three-car crash that left one person badly injured took place on Interstate 70 on Saturday, July 17th in Jackson County.

A report filed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol shows that the accident occurred at about 10:55 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70, in the area of milepost 22 when a 1997 Ford Escape, driven by a 20-year-old female from Independence, slowed down as it approached traffic congestion and was rear-ended by a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by a 51-year-old male from Florissant.

The Traverse was then rear-ended by a 2017 Dodge Journey, driven by a 34-year-old male from Odessa.

According to the report, all three vehicles were insured and all vehicle occupants were properly restrained during the accident.

A passenger from the Journey, a 48-year-old female, also from Odessa, sustained moderate injuries during the impact. She was transported by Central Jackson County paramedics to St. Luke’s East in Lee’s Summit.
