Kansas City, MO - Pedestrian Struck by Tractor-Trailer on I-70 Exit Ramp
Kansas City, MO (July 16, 2021) - An accident in which a tractor-trailer ran over a pedestrian took place on Friday, July 16th in Kansas City.
Reports show that the accident occurred at about 9:00 p.m. on the exit ramp leading from the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 to Van Brunt Boulevard.
Sources with the Missouri State highway Patrol reported that a blue Kenworth tractor-trailer was stopped for a red light at the bottom of the westbound off-ramp going from Interstate 70 to Van Brunt Boulevard. As the light changed to green, the operator of the Kenworth began to pull forward but failed to notice an orange Tao motorbike that was driving northbound in lane #3 of Van Brunt Boulevard.
The tractor-trailer ran over and then dragged the driver of the motorbike down the road a short distance. The driver of the motorbike was transported by paramedics to an area medical facility with injuries classified as critical. No information regarding the victim’s current condition has been made available.
The truck operator was unharmed during the incident.
This accident is under investigation by officers from the Kansas City Police Department.
