Kansas City, MO (July 24, 2021) – A teenage girl sustained critical injuries when the car she was riding in was overturned when the driver was hill jumping on Saturday, July 24th in Kansas City.
Officers were called to the scene of the single-vehicle accident at about 1:30 a.m. in the 7500 block of James A Reed Road.
According to a preliminary crash report, the driver of a white Toyota Corolla was driving northbound along James A Reed Road at a high rate of speed when the accident took place.
Officers said that the driver lost control of the vehicle on a large hill. The car then left the paved portion of the roadway and flipped onto its roof.
One of the passengers, a 15-year-old female, was ejected from the car. She was transported to a local hospital with injuries classified as critical.
The driver, a 16-year-old, was also transported for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
A second passenger, a 19-year-old, sustained only minor injuries during the incident and declined any medical treatment.
