Kansas City, MO – Two Killed, Three Injured in House Fire at 7200 N Avalon St

Kansas City, MO (July 14, 2021) – Officers from the Kansas City Police Department say that two people died following a house fire that occurred on Wednesday morning, July 14, in the Northland area.

Police say that, in addition to the two deceased victims, two more people sustained critical injuries. A third victim was reportedly in stable condition, according to a spokeswoman for the KCPD.

Initial reports stated that, just after 11:00 a.m., rescue units with the Kansas City Fire Department were called to the 7200 block of North Avalon Street for a serious fire. Upon arrival, they discovered that several victims were trapped in the house, including three children, an adult, and another victim (whose age is unknown). All five victims were transported to area hospitals via ambulance after the fire, and two succumbed to their injuries.

The ages of the deceased, as well as their identities, were not immediately available.

Officials with the KCPD Bomb and Arson Unit also responded to the scene as a precaution. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, and further details have not been released at this time.
