Washington Co, MO (July 22, 2021) – A multi-vehicle accident involving four vehicles that sent an elderly woman from Potosi to the hospital took place in Washington County on Thursday, July 22nd.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 81-year-old Ileen Kimes was driving eastbound on Missouri 8 in a 2019 Nissan Rogue when, for reasons that have yet to be determined, she collided with a 2019 Ford F-150 driven by 46-year-old Raymond Swaringim, a resident of Middle Brook.
The Rogue continued eastbound where it crashed into the righthand side of a 2017 GMC Terrain driven by 47-year-old Sheri Eye of Potosi. The force of the impact then launched the Rogue into the back-end of a 2005 Ford F-150 pick-up truck driven by 31-year-old Taryn Ives, also from Potosi.
Kimes was transported by Washington County Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital South with injuries classified as moderate. Her vehicle was listed as totaled.
Although all four drivers were properly restrained, the other three were unharmed during the incident and were able to drive their cars from the scene.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Injury Accidents in Washington County
Approximately 40% of all collision-related injuries and fatalities are caused by accidents involving more than one vehicle. Establishing fault in these kinds of crashes can be a very tricky process because there is typically more than one contributing factor that led to the accident.
Without the aid of the resources that a seasoned personal injury attorney has at their disposal, determining the exact cause of the collision will be a long uphill battle.
When victims receive injuries in auto accidents brought on by another person’s disregard for the laws of the road, Missouri permits them to file a claim of personal injury against the liable motorist for financial reimbursement. Victims should seek the guidance of a car accident attorney in Missouri who has decades of practice in how to handle personal injury laws.
It is important to remember that, no matter how well-intentioned they may seem, insurance adjusters work for insurance companies. Their job is to protect the company’s bottom line. In order to achieve this, adjusters will often work to get you to say that the crash was partially or wholly your fault. They may also try to get you to say that your crash-related injuries aren’t really that serious, or that collision itself wasn’t really that severe.
Anytime you speak with an insurance adjuster, it is imperative that you do not make any admission of fault, or give them a statement regarding the accident. The smartest thing you can do before talking to an adjuster about your car accident is to have a reputable personal injury attorney with you.
