Kansas City, MO (June 28, 2021) – A driver was burned and a police officer narrowly escaped injury when the driver of a school bus crashed into the officer’s motorcycle on Monday, June 28th in Kansas City.
The accident took place at about 9:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 29 in the area of Northwest Old Tiffany Springs Road in the Northland neighborhood when the officer stopped a driver for speeding. Once on the shoulder, the officer turned on the motorcycle’s emergency lights and approached the car along the right side.
As they were engaged, a yellow bus struck the motorcycle. The impact propelled the motorcycle into the back of the car causing the motorcycle’s fuel tank to rupture and the bike to explode.
The officer managed to get out of the way and was not unharmed.
The driver of the car received burn injuries to her left side.
The driver of the bus was also unharmed.
