Avalon, MO (May 25, 2021) – A man has died after sustaining serious injuries in a car crash that occurred in rural Livingston County on Sunday evening, May 23.

Authorities say that 75-year-old Charles Plummer died Monday morning at Liberty Hospital. He was flown there by a medical helicopter following the accident, which happened on Route JJ outside of Avalon around 10:00 p.m.

Troopers with the Missouri Highway Patrol say that Plummer was traveling on a UTV when it was hit by a pickup truck. His UTV was then forced off the road, causing it to hit 63-year-old Susan Bachman, who was removing grass from the highway with a leaf blower. She also sustained serious injuries and was flown to Saint Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza.

The truck driver was not hurt in the accident.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details about the cause of the collision were not released.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim, Mr. Kody Jones, at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and his family in hopes of a full recovery.
