Lawrence Co, MO (May 20, 2021) – Five people were injured during a three-car accident on Monday, May 17th in Lawrence County.
Reports show that the crash occurred at about 11:10 p.m. in the westbound lanes of State Highway 60, just outside of Verona when an eastbound pick-up truck attempted to turn around in the roadway due to flooding, causing it to be struck by another pick-up truck. The force of the impact pushed the first truck into the westbound lanes where it collided with a third pick-up truck.
The driver of the second truck, 55-year-old Susan A. Chaney, a resident of Marionville, was transported via ambulance to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield in serious condition.
The driver of the first truck, 76-year-old Jack H. Fooks, a resident of Middletown, DE, and his three passengers, 68-year-old Diana B. Fooks, also from Middletown; 27-year-old Jonathan J. Fields, and 26-year-old Catherine N. Fields, both from Marionville, were all taken by EMS to Cox Monett Hospital. Diana Fooks sustained moderate injuries while the other three victims were listed in non-critical condition.
The driver of the third truck, 21-year-old Rodrigo Salas Sanchez, a resident of Verona, was unharmed during the incident.
