Poplar Bluff, MO (November 28, 2021) – One woman has lost their life following an auto accident in the Poplar Bluff area on Friday afternoon, November 26. At around 2:10 p.m., authorities were called to the scene of a crash on US Highway 67.
Reports from authorities show that a 2013 Lincoln MKZ and a 2017 Toyota Rav4 collided on US Highway 67 in the area near County Road 323. The crash left both vehicles totaled. The two vehicles were towed from the scene.
The driver of the Toyota, 59-year-old Rita Overstreet, sustained fatal injuries in the accident and died at the scene. A passenger in her vehicle, 49-year-old Tammy Thomas, was transported via Air Evac to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis for care.
The driver of the Lincoln, 25-year-old Alexis Wooden, and her passenger, 23-year-old Danielly Izquierdo, were both transported to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for care.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
