Purdy, MO (November 3, 2021) – A motor vehicle accident reported in Barry County on Tuesday evening claimed the lives of two people. At around 7 p.m., on November 2, emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at an accident on Missouri State Highway 37.
Reports from local authorities show that a 2013 Chevrolet Cruz and a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu were involved in an accident on Highway 37 during the evening hours.
The drivers of both vehicles sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The victims were identified as 18-year-old Taylor McGlothlin and 33-year-old Maria Haros.
Three other people were seriously injured. A 15-year-old male was flown by medical helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for care. 21-year-old Katia Knott was airlifted to Cox South in Springfield for the treatment of serious injuries. A fifth victim, 20-year-old Katlyn Rose, was transported via helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
