Carthage, MO – Four Injured, Including Three Juveniles, in Crash on County Rd 170

Carthage, MO (October 22, 2021) – A motor vehicle accident reported in Jasper County left several people injured. At around 6:30 p.m., on October 21, emergency crews were requested on-site at a crash on County Road 170.

Reports from authorities show that a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling on County Road 170 when it became involved in a crash just two miles west of Carthage. The impact of the crash sent the vehicle off the roadway. The Chrysler struck an embankment and a fence before overturning.

18-year-old Leala Bowers and three other victims, identified as 15, 16, and 17-year-old female teens, were all injured. The four victims were transported via ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Joplin for care.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
