Joplin, MO (October 31, 2021) – Multiple people were left with injuries following a motor vehicle accident in Newton County on Friday evening. At around 6:55 p.m., on October 29, emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at a crash on Gateway Drive.
Reports from local authorities indicate that a 2011 Kia Sedona and a Chevrolet Tahoe were stopped on Gateway Drive while waiting to turn. For unknown reasons, a 2013 Ford F-150 crashed into the Kia from behind. The impact of the crash caused the Kia to crash into the Tahoe.
The driver of the Kia, 32-year-old Cali Sharpe, and her three passengers, a 6-year-old male, a 7-year-old male, and a 9-year-old female, were all injured. All four victims were transported to Mercy Hospital in Joplin for care.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
Our thoughts are with Cali Sharpe and the three children injured in this accident. We hope for their full recovery.
