Luray, MO (October 3, 2021) – One man has lost his life following a motor vehicle accident on Friday morning in Clark County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol has since identified the man as 82-year-old Billie Orton of Arbela, Missouri.
At approximately 10 a.m., on October 1, Orton was traveling on Highway 136 just four miles west of Luray, Missouri. For unknown reasons, his vehicle collided with a pickup truck, which was driven by 48-year-old Richard Buford of Downing, Missouri.
Orton sustained severe injuries in the accident. He was transported to a local hospital for care.
Authorities confirmed that Orton succumbed to his injuries at 6:15 p.m. while at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
