Benton Co, MO (September 04, 2021) – On Friday, September 3rd, a collision between two vehicles caused injury to one person in Benton County.
Reports show that at about 10:20 p.m., a 2021 Ford Ranger was stopped at a red light, waiting to make a lefthand turn, when it was struck by a 2003 Humvee driven by a 17-year-old male from Lebanon.
The driver of the Ford, a 58-year-old male from Edwards, sustained non-critical injuries during the impact.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Right-of-Way Accidents in Benton County
It is not uncommon for accidents centering around who had the right-of-way to be the source of a rage-fueled altercation between the drivers. After all, they involve two people both insisting that they had the right-of-way and the other driver is to blame for the crash.
In accidents like these, accounts of what happened are often ambiguous because both drivers believe that their choice was the correct one. Luckily, Missouri follows comparative fault insurance laws. In other words, a driver who is injured during a crash might still be eligible to receive financial compensation even if they share some of the fault.
Missouri allows blame to be established in several different ways, through things such as eyewitness accounts, discovery via opposing council, and the testimony of expert witnesses.
Although the state affords you a very generous five-year statute of limitations in which to file your claim, it is imperative that you speak with a personal injury attorney as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to prove your version of events and obtain full and fair financial compensation.
