Kansas City, MO (September 09, 2021) – A driver and her two dogs were killed on Wednesday, September 8th in a wrong-way collision on Interstate 35 in the Northland neighborhood of Kansas City.
The two-vehicle accident took place at about 10:00 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 near Chouteau Trafficway.
Eyewitnesses said they saw a silver Chevrolet Aveo driving northbound in the southbound lanes of Interstate 35/Interstate 29 near MO-210 in North Kansas City when it collided nearly head-on with a white Buick Encore that was traveling southbound on Interstate 35 close to the Chouteau Trafficway.
The driver of the Chevrolet was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where she passed away a short while later. The two dogs in her car also died.
The driver of the Buick was also transported to a hospital in serious condition.
The southbound lanes of the interstate were shut down for about three hours while law enforcement investigated the accident.
No names have been released.
