Sedalia, MO – SPD Officer Injured in Dog Attack on Washington Ave

Sedalia, MO (December 5, 2022) – An officer with the Sun Valley Police Department was left injured following a dog attack that took place on Monday morning. Around 11 a.m., on December 5, the Sedalia Police Department responded to the scene of an incident on South Washington Avenue.

According to reports, the Sedalia Police Department officers were dispatched to the scene of an active shooter in the area of 1204 S. Washington Avenue. As officers surveyed the scene, two large breed dogs charged an officer in the street.

Both dogs attacked the officer and bit them repeatedly. One of the dogs was shot by the officer. The other dog was taken back into the residence where it had run out of. It was later taken by animal services to be quarantined. The officer was transported to a local hospital for the treatment of injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
